(2) mitigate the effects of global warming by drawing on our combined experience, knowledge, resources, and talents. (3) share our methods with the Kendal Corporation, Kendal affiliate staff and administrators, as well as other retirement communities. Its goals is to set Kendal affiliates and other elder communities on the pathway to a 50% reduction in greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions by 2030 and net carbon neutrality by 2050. It will do this by: ADVOCATE, by pressing key decision makers to pass laws and enforce rules consistent with these GHG reduction goals. EDUCATE, to inform and inspire actions by elder communities to work toward alleviation of climate change and instill hope for a sustainable future. IMPLEMENT strategies for creating environmentally friendly elder communities, using science-based and professionally guided best practice. Held monthly project team meetings for the Education, Advocacy, and Implementation groups, and occasionally working groups (e.g. a group to develop an energy audit Request for Proposals (RFP) template for SSAFE Chapters). Held monthly general meetings with speakers (which were recorded). At these meetings, Chapter residents shared ideas and accomplishments with residents on other campuses and learned about climate change-related issues. Project team meetings involved about 40 people, working groups averaged about 6 people, and general committee meeting attendance averaged about 50 people with one meeting reaching over 110. 0 40754 Published quarterly newsletter reporting on actions that various SSAFE Chapters have taken and educational articles about aspects of climate change and how to reduce greenhouse gasses. The newsletter is directly sent to 900+ people and about 30 printed copies are sent to each of 14 SSAFE Chapters (over 400 copies total) to be shared with administrators and anyone expressing interest in SSAFE activities. Produced a template for energy-related measures to take when turning over an apartment or cottage. Produced 12 in-depth Case Studies on climate-related projects done at the various campuses (e.g. a project to replace inefficient light bulbs with LEDs, a project to recycle plastics, a project to compost residential waste, a project to shave peak electrical demand, etc.) 0 2617 Distributed Action Alerts to inform Chapter members about proposed regulations and legislation relating to climate change.
