The funds are monitored and paid based on required periodic reporting from the agencies awarded the grants. The Alzheimer Respite program is funded by the state of Maine to help caregivers care for their loved ones at home. The Organization receives the state funding and reimburses individual's respite care costs up to a maximum amount per caregiver. Respite for ME is a Maine pilot grant program providing grant funding to caregivers up to a maximum amount per caregiver. The Organization administers the Respite for ME program in Southern Maine and ensures all financial reimbursements are confirmed and managed with accuracy before payment is made to the caregiver or in certain situations, payment is made to the service provider. In addition, the Organization contributes funds to individuals in need through our When in Need and Best Friends Pet Fund programs up to a limited number of requests. The contributions are primarily made to the service providers based on documentation for the approved product or service. Form 990, Part III, line 2 Respite for ME is a state program providing funds to family caregivers of people living with Alzheimer's Disease and related dementias. The annual grant payment is up to $5,171 per individual caregiver and is funded by the Maine Jobs and Recovery Plan. Southern Maine Agency on Aging is one of five Maine Agencies on Aging administering the program. Vaccine initiative is a collaboration of the five Maine Agencies on Aging to educate Mainers over 60 years old about the importance of staying up-to-date on immunizations, including COVID-19, Flu, RSV and Pneumonia vaccines. The Agencies on Aging offer clinics in communities across Maine to help Mainers get immunized.
