The Advocacy Action Network (AAN) is an umbrella organization under which the KY Mental Health Coalition (KMHC) and the United 874K Disabilities Coalition (874K) operate as programs. AAN does not provide direct services, but supports the work and services of its two programs by extending their reputation and identification through social media, work with news media and direct communications with public and policymakers. 0 14250 KMHC brings together the collective voices of its 80 organizational members representing consumers, family members, advocates and providers. Their work is to educate the public and policymakers about behavioral health issues (mental health and addictions) and to increase the resources necessary to meet Kentucky's human service needs, thus improving the mental health and well-being of all Kentuckians. Approximately one in five Kentuckians (20% of the population) will be affected by a behavioral health issue in their lifetime. 0 11727 874K was formed in 2001 to advocate for the 874,000+ Kentuckians identified by the 2000 Census as having a disability that interfered with at least one task of daily living. The coalition is cross-disabilities and has been convening large numbers of Kentuckians with disabilities in Frankfort during the legislative sessions since its formation.
