This is an average of $263 of groceries per family visit of which 22% was fresh produce: 15% was fresh or frozen meat, fish, and dairy; and 6% was fresh breads and bakery. Feeding Hands includes essential items beyond food to include personal care, laundry detergent, pet food, diapers, adult incontinence, and feminine hygiene products to every family who needs it. We connect families to support services such as healthcare and insurance programs and make connections to government programs such as SNAP. We also distribute childrens books each month to all families with children in order to feed young minds in addition to feeding bodies. With a unique approach, we cultivate contagious volunteerism to involve the community in helping their neighbors which serves to build bridges within the communities that we serve.
