Part X, Line 2: The Council is exempt from the payment of income taxes on its exempt activities under Section 501(c)(3) of the Internal Revenue Code (IRC). In addition, the Council qualifies for the charitable contribution deduction and has been classified as an organization that is not a private foundation. However, income from certain activities not directly related to the Council's tax-exempt purpose is subject to taxation as unrelated business income. The Council has an insignificant amount of unrelated business income for the years ended June 30, 2023 and 2022; therefore, no provision for income taxes has been made in these consolidated financial statements. The Council evaluates uncertainty in income tax positions based on a more-likely-than-not recognition standard. If that threshold is met, the tax position is then measured at the largest amount that is greater than 50% likely of being realized upon ultimate settlement. As of June 30, 2023 and 2022, there are no accruals for uncertain tax positions. If applicable, the Council records interest and penalties as a component of income tax expense.
