Grants and assistance were awarded to the following organizations: Bluegrass Commiunity & Technical College, Lexington Gay Services Org Inc, Drag Queen Story Time, La Casita Center, Luminary Comity Inc, Big Sandy LGBT Safe Zone, River Park Center Inc, Voices Amplified Inc, Ashland Pride, Front Runners Lex Inc, The Roman Catholic Diocese of Lexington Ky. Since 2011, JustFundKy has grown the endowment that funds these grants to about $2million. We fund educational projects from Pikeville to Paducah. To date, we have granted over $577,000 to 71 community organizations throughout the Commonwealth. 46453 0 0 In 2023, JustFundKy continued our social media, outreach, advocacy, and educational efforts throughout the year. This year JustFundKy is also helping to fund a legal challenge to Senate Bill 150, a bill that passed in 2023 that prohibits discussions and educational programming on gender identity and sexual orientation in schools, and gender-affirming care for minors. We hosted a fundraiser for this effort in August of 2023. Funds from the proceeds of the endowment are used for operations and for funding our annual grants to small organizations, as well as awareness and educational programs and activities. These funds therefore enable us to meet our goals and mission. Donations both from donors who designate funds to us via BGCF and from the Community Foundation itself are a way for the public to show their support for the Just Fund Education Project. The use of the endowment funds proceeds are restricted to the grants, programs, and events of JustFundKy and cannot be used for the benefit of any of our officers or for non-charitable organizations or purposes. The endowment fund principal cannot be disbursed except upon dissolution of JustFundKy, and then onto to a successor nonprofit organization or distributed as a final grant to a nonprofit with a similar mission, guaranteeing the funds can only ever be used for charitable programming purposes.
