Education through sailing: being the first year of organization, efforts have been focused on re-fitting a sailing vessel to meet safety and reliability requirements in order to have others aboard. In addition, relationships have been fostered with 4 other organizations that will be partners or referrals in the future. 0 53523 Education through cultural exchange: connections were fostered in Puerto Rico and Dominican Republic with 3 organizations and many individuals. These relationship are the foundation for education and experiences in the next year and beyond. 0 20586 Education through giving service to sustainable initiatives: Research was conducted to identify organizations with established programs that benefit their communities in PR and DR. 3 visits were made and one day of service was given by Board members to a PR organization. The other 15% were costs incurred with travel to Dominican Republic and Puerto Rico for research and collaboration. Form 990-EZ, Part II, Line 24 Total assets started and ended the year with $0 because all revenue was spent on expenses incurred. Form 990-EZ, Part II, Line 26 Global Voyage did not have any liabilities in 2023. Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line (28-31) Narrative of Accomplishments: Early 2023 focused on website development, planning, and a new board officer joining. On May 18, we became officially approved as a 501(c)(3) public charity. In June, we celebrated the completion of a significant vessel refit and our inaugural voyage around southern Puerto Rico! Innumerable hours were spent over 15 months installing new steering and navigation systems, new running rigging and sails, new windlass, a redesigned bow pulpit, anchor roller and a full interior refit and new canvas. A hardtop bimini was constructed during the end of the year. In July, Board Officers traveled to the Dominican Republic for some facetime with new Board Officer and to foster connections there. We met with leaders of Inspire DR, a local 501(c)(3) non-profit dedicated to educating, mentoring, and inspiring underserved boys in Cabarete-Sosúa, Dominican Republic. The purpose of this gathering was to explore opportunities for meaningful collaboration in the future. We visited the Puerto Bahía Marina in Samaná and the Ocean World Marina in Puerto Plata with the primary objective of exploring the potential of the marinas as a port of anchor for our sailing programs. The Board hosted an informative meeting at Cabra Tostá Coffee House in Mayaguez, Puerto Rico. The gathering provided a platform for colleagues and the public to learn more about our mission, and the impactful work we do. Continuing our priority to network and engage the local community, in November, we visited with leaders of Boqueron Sailing School. Additionally, we attended the Caribbean Regatta hosted at Club Náutico de Ponce, seizing the opportunity to connect with local maritime enthusiasts and organizations. On November 14, Global Voyage launched its first Giving Tuesday campaign for which $8,475 was successfully raised. On November 28, Board Members dedicated time by volunteering at Biblioteca Juvenil de Mayaguez, another 501(c)(3) non-profit that focuses on community literacy, to assist with packing and facilitate the move from the library's old location to its new premises. As Global Voyage continues to evolve, we are committed to fostering positive change in communities and creating growth opportunities for the up-and-coming generation.
