Participants went on a guided tour to various stops around the county where they could observe some of most efficient farmers in the world. The tour's purpose was to educate and inform the urban population on farming and agricultural issues. 29) Members usually travel to Farm Bureau Days in Tallahassee where they advocated on behalf of agriculture. This event gives members the oportunity to educate legislaturers on the issues their constituents face with regards to policies affecting agriculture. 30)Hendry-Glades particated in Ag Literacy Day in March. Volunteers read and provided age appropriate activities to enhance the educational opportunity to learn about cattle in Florida. These types of events help students gain an appreciation for the importance of agriculture in our community.
