This was to correct the total to properly reflect on the filing. Part III 4B-C Workshops and Consulting Assistance: Training is offered for nominal fees or no cost to the attendees. Participants in the training include community development groups, local Main Street organizations, preservation groups, city and county officials, specialists in historic preservation of buildings, downtown betterment groups, chambers of commerce, and other groups interested in preservation and revitalization of historic districts. MMSC selected topics for the 2023 workshops and conferences that helped existing groups strengthen their local revitalization programs and help those starting a revitalization program to achieve success quickly. The training in regional workshops focus on the development of revitalization skills for governing boards, staff, and volunteers who support the local revitalization efforts. Topics included: Main Street 101, Neighborhood Assistance Program, People Engaging People, Urban Main Street Partners: processes included creating a Main Street downtown revitalization program, board and volunteer development, encouraging local resources for building rehabilitation and development, communication, promotion, and fundraising. In 2023, MMSC held numerous trainings in person depending on the audience size and local restrictions 2000 individuals received training with the Main Street Approach and served 110 total communities and districts. Consulting services were conducted by staff upon request by communities seeking this type of revitalization training and mentoring. This Start-Up training includes continuous mentoring by our staff to the local board of directors in each community following the initial consultation. The Start-Up process includes an on-site analysis the locals needs and potential for revitalization success. Consulting and mentoring continued through 2023 with communities that began their revitalization programs as in previous years: including follow-ups and continued training in 24 districts and communities. The results show that most of these communities are progressing with projects that rehabilitate historic buildings and thus attract new business tenants adding value to the historic districts' income producing assets and increase local sales tax base and real estate values. These communities are proving their success by sending reports periodically which include economic data and preservation project results. Three districts and communities were ready in 2023 for advanced assistance to boost their success rate with revitalization projects and programs. In some cases, our staff provided the training and recommended professional guidance in the form of architects, engineers, and preservation consultants to provide the necessary skills for the project. These consulting and technical services are always customized to fit the need of the particular community requesting the service. Consulting visits and trainings were also provided to 62 communities wanting to learn more about Main Street. Part III, 4A Conference: Missouri Main Street Connection, Inc. (MMSC) hosts an annual state conference to educate Missouri communities. In 2023, the conference was hosted in St.Louis, MO. The conference provided the focus on the importance of people, preservation, and places in community development and revitalization. The conference brings together historic preservation, community revitalization, and economic development professionals to learn new techniques and ideas related to the Main Street Approach to revitalization. The three- day conference hosted 340 attendees from across Missouri for education and networking. Proceeds from the conference are utilized by MMSC to provide in-community services directly with the local Main Street non-profit. Part III, Line 4D Other program services included training for local Main Street programs via the virtual Mornings on Main webinar series, Lunch and Learn, Doctor is in to address questions and We Care calls with Main Street Directors from across the state. Program participants gained valuable knowledge to expand the program services and technical training offered by MMSC Part VI, Line 11b The process by which the organization reviewed this form 990: The form was completed on April 2, 2024 and then reviewed by Christine Johnston, Board President, Robert Lewis . Immediate Past President, Dr. Steven Hoffman, Executive Leadership Trustee and Gayla Roten, State Director. The Board examines comparable data from the National Main Street Center's Main Street Coordinator's Annual Salary Survey during an Executive (closed) session. A copy charge of $0.10 per page will be applied for black ink copies or $0.20 per page for colored ,there is also an additional charge for postage based on the current first-class mail rate.
