In 2023, we received $1,231.02 from LexisNexis, $1,237.42 from Thomson Reuters, $112.62 from W.S. Hein, and $244.10 from the Copyright Clearance Center, for a total of $2,825.16. Form 990-EZ, Part I, Line 16 Line 16 (Other expenses): Most of our biggest expenses fit on Line 15, because printing, production, and postage are essential features of our core program services -- the making and sharing of content (publications and related products) useful to lawyers, scholars, and students. We always have, however, at least one and often several other substantial projects that do not fit within line 15. In 2023, we produced and shared several non-print products complemented our print program, including the latest in our series of annotated bobbleheads of Justices of the U.S. Supreme Court that are often used in classrooms by law teachers, and displayed in libraries (it was Justice John Paul Stevens, and it meshed with material in The Green Bag and our Almanac and Reader; our first challenge coin, which paired with our educational jigsaw puzzle about US Attorneys and their challenge coins, and a research oriented data-treasure hunt; and several smaller items: $10,619.23. Our next-largest expense was the last big step in doing right by the District of Columbia after we received "clean hands" certification (hallelujah!): We paid corporate DC income tax for 2022, which, when combined with our regular monthly payment of DC sales tax, brought our total tax payments for 2023 to $4,452.46. The rest of our "Other expenses" are in line with our normal operations: (1) Events (this year at The Mysterious Bookshop in New York, for our "ACD Society" literary project): $2,500.00; (2) Bank and credit card fees: $-21.07; (3) Paypal fees (an increasing number of subscribers pay online): $2,932.02; (4) IT fees (website, cloud storage, software): $1,893.86; (5) Research materials (books, subscriptions, and primary sources used in our publications and other products; this varies widely from year to year, depending on particular projects we are working on for the future, and this was an appropriately small year, after a big year last year): $5,128.58; (6) Travel and meals: $2,330.77; (7) Government fees (renewing our charitable organization registration in Ohio, a filing fee in D.C.): $135.00; (8) Equipment and supplies: $337.81; (9) statutory agent fees: $49.00.
