Housing Justice: This program encompasses several housing efforts over the course of the year. This work focused on serving youth and our allies through educational and community-oriented events and materials regarding housing and land-use in San Diego and California. This included but was not limited to: weekly educational planning meetings a pro-housing rally several community events policy FAQ sheets multi-part educational Youtube series and consistent engagement at San Diego City Council. The largest of our policy-based engagement work centered around the Housing Action Package 2.0 which included several updates to housing and land use policy across San Diego. This program engaged and served over 500 youth and community members. 0 19635 Youth Skill Development Team Convening: Following the review of our year we identified several potential areas of development for our team. Over several days we held workshops skill development practices and encouraged greater connections between separate teams to encourage greater organizational coordination. These included but were not limited to organizing simulations goal setting and organizational strategy mapping. This convening served our entire staff team over 20 youth and engaged several board members. 0 4685 Gun Violence Awareness: This program focused on addressing the lack of public action and awareness about about gun violence prevention in San Diego. To honor the anniversary of the first major youth action taken following the tragic Parkland shooting we joined with local group San Diegans 4 Gun Violence Prevention to hold a walk and rally at the Hall of Justice. This event also helped us to empower our fellow community organization by connecting them with a local City Councilmember focused on Gun Violence Prevention. We also held a walkout at the University of California San Diego following the mass shooting at Michigan State University. This program led to a close bond with local community organizations working on raising awareness about gun violence in San Diego and participation in several more art grieving and healing events led by San Diegan 4 Gun Violence Prevention.
