Fortunately the City of Kyiv had developed plans for a model site. Using these plans and working though our on-the-ground partner, Soloma Cats and the City of Kyiv we were able to purchase generators in France, Wifi and a Starlink satellite receiver and rudimentary kitchen appliances in Ukraine and establish the first Heating Point in Kyiv thereby earning for the project President Zelensky's Golden Heart Award. We went on to fund two more Heating Points in this life saving project. 29000 29000 30378 THERAPEUTIC SUMMER CAMP FOR WAR-IMPACTED CHILDREN: A recurring request from our Ukrainian partners has been to focus our efforts on Ukraine's women and children. Many o the programs we had underway were not specifically targeted on women and children but they were certainly of great benefit to these two categories. (The heating points were one such example.) Our first program specifically targeted on children took place in cooperation with the Ukrainian National Police and the Ukrainian Non-Profit organization, Voices of Children. In the summer of 2023 we planned and funded a summer camp for the war-traumatized children of first responders. The camp featured psychological help for the children and was regarded by all concerned as a huge success. 48788 40000 62702 OHMATDIT CHILDREN'S HOSPITAL IN KYIV: In the course of The Humanity Funds visits to Ohmatdyt Children's Hospital in Kyiv we learned about the need of child amputees for hydro-therapy and resistance training in a heated therapeutic pool. Construction of such a pool had been started in an auxiliary building of the Ohmatdyt Hospital but the construction had stalled for lack of funding The Humanity Funds undertook to raise the necessary funds by holding a benefit concert in Ohmatdyt Hospital featuring the renowned cellist, Colin Carr. The concert was live-streamed to US audiences and the funds were raised for the pool. The opening ceremony for the pool took place in Kyiv in June 2024. The names of the major Humanity Funds donors are inscribed in a plaque on the pool wall. Revenues above the needs of the therapeutic pool were pooled for other projects at Ohmatdyt Childdren's hospital with donor consent. 15729 15729 12174 KYIV CENTRAL MILITARY HOSPITAL: The Humanity Funds responded to an appeal from the Border Security Hospital in Kyiv for a 3D XRAY machine for the surgical ward. Operations were taking place on severe shrapnel wounds without the use of such a machine making effective surgery very difficult. A second hand 3D Xray machine was discovered in Poland and purchased through an intermediary and delivered to the hospital. Funds for the machine were raised at an event designed to fund both the machine and the camp for traumatized children. Event expenses were covered by the fund fo the camp. 9850 9850 11149 KAKHOVKA DAM FLOODING RELIEF: In June 2023 Russian forces destroyed a large section of the Kakhovka Dam leading to catastrophic flooding, loss of lives and property. The Humanity Funds received an urgent appeal from one of its Ukrainian partners for water pumps and rubber boats to conduct rescue and rehabilitation missions. The items were procured and were used throughout the period of emergency response. 5604 5694 1942 A program begun in 2022 in cooperation with the Ukrainian National Police delivered small generators to widows and others who were suffering from the consequences of Russia's attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure. 10090 10000 10000 Our Ukrainian Partner, the Zagoriy Foundation, is a registered Ukrainian non-profit with extensive public service programs in Ukraine, particularly in Western Ukraine. The grant paid all expenses for. 40 wives and children of first responders who have been impacted by the war. The camp took place in the Carpathian Mountains in Ukraine. It was run by psychiatrists and psychologists specialized in handling cases of war trauma. The head of the Human Rights Department of the National Police hailed the camp as a great success. 29000 wire transfer 0 Europe (including Iceland and Greenland) The Grant was to the Ohmatdit Hospital Foundation, a foundation associated with Ohmatdit Children's Hospital in Kyiv, Ukraine. The grant paid for completion of a therapy pool for use in the rehabilitation of child amputees undergoing training for the use of prosthetic devices. Because of Russia's use of drones and missiles to attack civilian populations as well as the widespread use of landmines by both sides of the conflict, Ukraine suffers from an exceptional high rate of children who have lost limbs. The pool assists in therapy for these children, both physically and psychologically. 40000 wire transfer Europe (including Iceland and Greenland) The grant was to the Kyiv Central Military Hospital (Border Security) for the purpose of buying an operating room 3D Xray machine for use in surgery for the removal of shrapnel from wounded civilians and military personnel. 13000 Wire Transfer Europe (including Iceland and Greenland) The grant recipient was Soloma Cats, a Government of Ukraine recognized non-profit charity. The grant was for the purpose of establishing Community Heating and Communication Points to counter the impact of Russia's attacks on Ukraine's infrastructure. Three such facilities were established providing life saving heat and communication for residents of Kyiv who had no electrical power because of Russia's attack on the electric power infrastructure. 30000 wire transfer Europe (including Iceland and Greenland) The grant was made in response to a request by a Ukrainian Member of Parliament to help families who were stranded by floods caused by the destruction of Ukraine's Kakhovka Dam by Russian forces. The grant was to purchase rubber boats and water pumps. The purchase was carried out by a Ukrainian Charity licensed by the Ukrainian Government, The Soloma Cats. This non-profit was also our implementing partner for Heating Points. 9850 wire transfer Europe (including Iceland and Greenland) The grants are made to produce a documentary film in support of Save Ukraine's program to find and return Ukrainian children abducted by Russia and to assist refugees fleeing the occupied territories of Ukraine. The film will be used for fund raising for Save Ukraine.
