There are 4 units in Rayburn Prison plus the punish block.We do one unit at a time, which encompasses over 200 men.Volunteers are able to go into the dorms and talk to the inmates and invite them to the program that will take place that afternoon.There is a meal provided then several ex-inmates led singing and give an inspirational talk to encourage them. The men are given cards to fill out that express that they prayed to receive Christ or something they want prayed for. They are then contacted by inmate pastors and prayed with the following weeks. 9443 0 0 Prison Ministry:This ministry encompasses many facets of Team 5:18 MInistries. Shane teaches classes at the prison with help from faithful volunteers who commit to come each week.The men have been let down by many people so this commitment is very important. The men take classes that last a year.Team 5:18 also hosts a "Day With Dad" that brings the men who are approved their children to spend the day doing crafts, playing games, watching a puppet show, and a magic show. Everyone is fed and the children leave the prison with a picture with their dad in a frame the dads decorated the day before and a Bible. We also host a leadership conference several times a year that is very productive. Ministers from around the area volunteer to spend the day with peer ministers in the prison. They answer questions, go over topics that will help these incarcerated men who have earned seminary degrees minister to their fellow inmates. Again a meal is provided. 0 1510 0 0 Mentor program: Each week a staff member goes to the Children's Home in Robert, LA to do a bible study, play games, and spend time with the boys there. We train men, do background checks and match them to a boy at the home. These volunteers must commit to visit the home each week.
