Be an immediate family member of a RESDC member. An immediate family member is defined as a child, grandchild, step child, or step grandchild. Be of good moral character and have achieved high personal and academic goals including sufficient community service to engender pride in himself/herself, the people who recommend them, and to members of this Granting Association. Additional Information for Schedule I RESDC annually awards scholarships to graduating high school seniors who are immediate family members of a RESDC member. RESDC Merit Scholarships are intended to provide financial assistance to RESDC members immediate family who are outstanding high school seniors planning to attend college. Applicants are judged on their statement, all-around academic record, and school and community service. Members or stockholder classes and rights Part VI line 6 Membership is open to any retired or active employee of the County of San Diego Member election for additional members Part VI line 7a An election will be conducted annually to elect Officers and Directors from the slate presented by the Election Committee and the nominations filed with the Board by members. When only one candidate for a vacant position is nominated, the nominated candidate will be considered elected by the Board. If more than one candidate is nominated for one vacant position, an election for that office will be conducted by mail ballot. Governing body decisions Part VI line 7b The RESDC Board of Directors consists of the President, First Vice President, Second Vice President, Secretary, Treasurer, Immediate Past President, and eight Directors.The Board of Directors conducts its business at monthly agenized meetings, at which, it acts on annual business matters such as budget approval, meeting and event planning, bylaws charges, etc. Additionally, policy and operational matters that arise from organizational activities are a core function of Board governance and oversight. The Board President shall preside at all RESDC Membership and Board of Directors Meetings. The President shall appoint the chairperson of all committees and shall be an ex-officio member of all committees, except the Elections Committee. The President may, at his or her discretion, appoint committee members with the advice and/or consent of the committee chairperson. The President shall be responsible for general supervision of all RESDC activities, represent RESDC at appropriate functions, meetings and activities; and perform such other duties as may be assigned by action of the general membership and/or the Board of Directors. Governing body meeting documentation Part VI line 8a The Secretary keeps writen notes of all meetings. Form 990 governing body review Part VI line 11 Form 990 is given to all Board Members. They are given 7 days to submit comments and questions. Conflict of interest policy compliance Part VI line 12c An annual statement is obtained from each board member. Governing documents etc available to public Part VI line 19 Documents made available upon valid written request. Explanation of other changes in net assets or fund balances Part XI line 9 Market adjustments on investments. Part III response or note to any other line in Part III Protect Members Retirement & Health Benefits. Organizations membership is primarily made up of former employees of San Diego County. This is a very active group whose volunteer officers and directors devote themselves to the needs and best interests of its over 8000 members. Our purpose is to represent all County retirees, to see that their current retirement & health benefits are protected, and obtain new benefits such as Star COLA when justified. This is accomplished through the efforts of the Board of Directors and the standing committees working with the Retirement Board & County Board of Supervisors, as well as with the California Retired County Employees Association.
