FPEF's mission is to strengthen public education in the district through advocacy, fundraising, and investment in programs that empower every student to achieve both academic and personal success. FPEF's flagship initiative is a competitive grants program in which faculty is invited to apply for funds to support student-centered educational projects that are not funded as part of the district's operating budget. In addition, FPEF administers the Community Care program to assist students in the district whose families face financial hardship. FPEF administered two grant cycles that funded 21 teacher proposals benefiting over 950 students in preschool and grades K through 8 in the Florham Park public school district. 16505 85 At the request of the Florham Park school district, FPEF raised funds and awarded a grant to create an innovative outdoor classroom for Ridgedale Middle School. 5000 0 The Community Care program raised funds and distributed gift cards to families who are facing financial hardships to buy essential supplies. The funds were used to purchase the following items which were gifted to the Florham Park public school district: materials to build garden beds for grades K through 5; digital microscopes; bucket drums for music classes; VEX robotics kits; magna tiles maker space; entrance fees for mini math competition; pocket voice translators for ELS teachers; floor puzzles; digital pocket thermometers; digital cameras; materials for calming corners; decodable readers; portable PA with hand-held wireless system; magnetic whiteboard. In addition, scholarships were presented to two graduating 8th grade students who demonstrated civic leadership. FPEF also gifted the district $5,000 to create an innovative outdoor classroom for Ridgedale Middle School. Research has shown that curricular outdoor learning settings have huge benefits on student mental health and academic performance. The Community Care program was established during the COVID pandemic when it came to our attention several families were facing additional financial hardship from the lockdown. In 2023 the program distributed $1,226 in gift cards to families with children in the district who were displaced or grappling with other financial hardship. The program also coordinated and distributed in-kind donations to needy families during the holidays. Eight children and their families were assisted in 2023. Grants totaled $16,505. 2. At the request of the Florham Park school district, FPEF raised funds and awarded a $5,000 grant to create an innovative outdoor classroom for Ridgedale Middle School. 3. The Community Care program distributed $1,226 to families with children in the district facing financial hardship. Eight families and their families were assisted to purchase essential supplies. Form 990-EZ, Part III, Line 32 Program service expenses were minimal, totaling $85 in supplies for the grants program. The Florham Park Education Foundation (FPEF) is a small all-volunteer organization with no paid staff. I, Elisa Puzzuoli-Pusic, am solely responsible for the financial records. My personal family commitments, including taking care of an elderly sick parent, prevented me from completing the return in a timely manner. Please note that FPEF earned less than $50,000 in gross receipts in 2023, therefore we were not required to complete a 990-EZ but our Board wanted to provide more detail of our activities to the public which is not possible in the postcard format.
