Our mission is to uplift and strengthen people impacted by cancer by providing support, fostering compassionate communities, and breaking down barriers to care. Our services are available for cancer patients, cancer survivors, caregivers, family members, and children of parents facing cancer because our vision is that everyone impacted by cancer receives the support they want and need throughout their experience. For 25 years, we have been working to ensure this support is accessible to all Arizonans across the state. CSCAZ utilizes a Five Pillar program design, Support, Education, Healthy Lifestyle, Social Connections, and Resources and Referrals. All our programs are evidence based, led by licensed and certified professionals, available in English and Spanish, and completely free of charge. A failure to provide supportive care to cancer patients and their loved ones can result in additional suffering, reduced adherence to physician prescribed care, and a delayed return to best health status. Pairing supportive services with medical treatment, however, can improve recovery, increase resilience, and enhance long term survivorship. Therefore, CSCAZ provides these no cost programs and support to vulnerable individuals, families, and caregivers throughout their cancer journey. Unfortunately, these life saving services are not reimbursable by insurance, which is why we rely on generous donations from our community to fund our programs. Form 990, Part III, Line 4a continued Without our free services, patients are on their own to find, and pay for, the social and emotional support they need to have the best possible cancer outcomes. CSCAZ offers around 100 bilingual ,English and Spanish programs each month, including healthy lifestyle classes, nutrition education, support groups and 1 on 1 counseling with licensed mental health professionals, expressive arts, youth & family programming, and fun events designed to build life giving community. Additionally, we provide individualized services to address social determinants of health and overcome barriers to care. Form 990, Part III, Line 4a continued Through our Resource Navigation program, we help patients and families access resources such as financial, transportation, food, and lodging assistance, and offer free wigs to individuals who are losing their hair due to treatment. It can be overwhelming for Arizonans to navigate the cancer landscape, so CSCAZ helps ease the worry and burden of the cancer experience. In 2023, we served 1,865 individuals directly through our programs, and helped over 3,861 families access resources to overcome barriers to care. Considering our services help the whole family, last year we impacted over 7,500 Arizonans by making sure no one faces cancer alone.
