We fully funded the Dothan Civitan "Earl Butterworth" Endowed Scholarship by paying $10000 to increase our total funding from $15000 to $25000. Candidates for the scholarship will be full-time students from Houston, Dale, and Geneva counties in the state of Alabama who are enrolled on any campus of Troy University. Consideration will first be given to those with a special need and a minimum GPA of 2.5. Secondary consideration will be given to students who are pursuing a degree with a focus on special needs. These students must have and maintain a minimum GPA of 3.0. 10000 0 Civitans at the Helm is an annual giving program managed by Civitan International. Funds benefit the Civitan International Research Center (CIRC), which is an interdisciplinary center located on the campus of the University of Alabama at Birmingham that is dedicated to improving lives through neurodevelopmental research and the prevention and treatment of developmental disabilities. Established in 1989, the CIRC now includes over 100 scientists, clinicians and research staff from around the globe. 1250 0 Family Fun Day is an annual local event held for people with disabilities and their families. Attendance is in the hundreds. Food is typically served and specific activities change from year to year. Examples include carnival games, karaoke, and after hours water park admission. 0 4793 Clergy Appreciation is an international project of Civitan International, which honors local leaders of all faiths for their dedicated service to their local communities.
