It is our hope that our partners and stakeholders at all levels of government understand the impact of the YMCA of Central Ohio. In addition, we need support from our government partners to grow and sustain that impact. Tony Collins and Brandi AL-Issa met with Representatives and Senators from the Ohio General Assembly to share the story of impact in the Central Ohio community and ask for their support for the E.E. Ward YMCA outdoor community space capital request in the next upcoming state capital request. Becky Ciminillo serves as a member of the Advocacy Committee for the Ohio Association for Child Care Providers (OACCP) and spoke with state legislators about the need to increase funding to support child care professionals as well as child care accessibility, affordability and quality for families. For example New state budget recommendations for child care provider supports like, higher reimbursement rates for publicly funded child care, grants to support center viability, quality and higher wages for Ohio's child care professionals. The amount of time spent on OACCP activities in 2023 was 125 hours. Becky also served on the Licensing Transition Focus Group for the new Department of Children & Youth. The focus group advocated for changes to the state licensing child care rules on behalf of providers. The amount of time spent on the focus group advocacy in 2023 was 20 hours. Becky also serves on the Franklin County Child Care Support Team (FCCCST). The FCCCST provides recommendations for funding from the City and County to support child care professionals and low income families. The amount of time spent on FCCCST activities in 2023 was 20 hours. Bobbi Shannon participated in committee work around health initiatives, healthy standards and professional development for Ohio's early childhood participants and professionals. The amount of time spent on this committee work in 2023 was 20 hours. In addition, Bobbi served on a statewide committee focused on "Moving The Needle"- to increase wages for Ohio's child care professionals. Bobbi spent a total of 20 hours in 2023 on this committee work. The YMCA pays annual dues to the Ohio State Alliance of YMCA's./OAN/OACCP. This corporation is organized exclusively for charitable and educational purposes within the meaning of Section 501(c)(4) of the Internal Revenue Code of 1986, as of now enacted and hereafter amended.
