The Academy is subject to tax on income from any unrelated business. The Academy is subject to the recognition requirements for uncertain income tax positions as required by the Financial Accounting Standards Codification (FASB ASC) 740-10 (formerly known as as FASB Interpretation No. 48, Accounting for Uncertainty in Income Taxes), with no cumulative effect adjustment required. Income tax benefits are recognized for Income tax positions taken or expected to be taken in a tax return, only when it is determined that the Income tax position will more likely-than-not be sustained upon examination by taxing authorities. The Academy has analyzed tax positions taken for filing with the Internal Revenue Service and state jurisdiction where they operate. They Academy believes that income tax filing positions with be sustained upon examination and do not anticipate any adjustments that would result in a material adverse effect on their respective financial condition, results of operations, or cash flows. Accordingly, the Academy has not recorded any reserves or related accruals for interest andpenalties for uncertain income tax positions at June 30, 2023. Schedule E, Part I, Line 6 The School receives aids through the State of Minnesota for the purpose of providing educational services to its students. Minnesota State Statute 124D. 10 Subd.4.(g.) requires the board to have at least one employed or contracted teacher. The Academy is required to have an Authorizer to monitor its operations in order to maintain its charter. The Academy's approved Authorizer during the fiscal year 2023 was Innovative Quality Schools. Form 990, Part VI, Section A, Line 8b There are no committees with the authority to act on behalf of governing body. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b The return is reviewed and signed by the School's Director prior to filing. The entire board does not review the 990 before filing. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c The Board receives training and information from MDE and Dieci School Finance, LLC about required policies and procedures. Every year the board completes conflict of interest questionnaires and files them with Dieci School Finance, LLC. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 15 Officers of the Board receive their regular salary whether or not they serve on the Board - in other words, Board membership or Board Officer status have no impact on salary. The Director prepares a school budget, including salaries and benefits budgets, which the board approves. The Board negotiates the Dieci School Finance contract separately and it and all contracts are Board approved. Staff salaries have been adjusted in recent years for equity purposes and are now governed by Q Comp requirements.
