The ICT Justice Professionals Solution resources regulatory agencies, law enforcement and prosecution with the human trafficking case experience and expertise necessary to generate usable investigations and trial-ready cases. In addition, we work with agencies that assist law enforcement and prosecution in equipping their teams with the expertise and resources they need to combat trafficking more effectively. In 2023 ICT served as a resource for multiple state and local law enforcement agencies developing cases, worked with prosecutors on charging and case structuring issues and continued our partnership with the University of Texas Institute of Domestic Violence and Sexual Assault, training experts and prosecutors in the use of expert witnesses in human trafficking, domestic violence, sexual assault, strangulation and stalking cases. ICT also continued as lead prosecutor in several human trafficking prosecutions in the State of Texas. Cities for Justice-Prevention. In 2023 ICT began the assessment process for the 12 county federally funded STOPHT Task Force. Training. In 2023 ICT provided tailored human trafficking, domestic violence, policy, testifying and criminal justice training to law enforcement, prosecutors, corrections and parole officials, probation officers, expert witnesses, members of the public, and victim serving agencies among others. These trainings ranged from public awareness to multi-day sessions focusing on case development, use of experts, investigation and trial strategy. Other Program Services. In 2023 ICT provided multiple consultations with state and national legislative staffers on human trafficking policy proposals and consulted for several university researchers gathering data and examining different aspects of human trafficking. ICT also provided direct consultation with or on behalf of trafficked people or survivors of trafficking including working with family, friends, victim serving organizations, law enforcement or others who were attempting to assist people who are or were trafficked. This included analysis of the victim's current situation, provision of information about the criminal justice system, potential avenues of assistance and insight into what the trafficked person may be experiencing within the system. ICT also works directly with survivors of trafficking who are looking for a prosecutorial assessment of the conduct they endured, connection to law enforcement and prosecution, development of evidence and presentation of case facts to law enforcement. ICT also contributed materials and content to Founder Kirsta Melton's book, Human Trafficking Investigation: A Practitioner's Guide to Making the Case which will be published by CRC Press in October 2024.
