We will restart this scholarship when we have connected with a new 8th grade teacher. This program selected anonymously the best student writing that reflected educational values they wanted to pass on the next upcoming 8th grade class and expressed gratitude to parents and teachers for what they had learned thus far. The award paid for school supplies to help with entering 9th grade. All in honor of the retired principal Ellen Manning our Honorary Director. Part VI, Line 2 Vera Meyer Director and CEO is the mother of Dominique Hackett CFO and both hold unpaid positions with five other non related Directors of the Board also unpaid positions. Part VI, Line 11b Form 990 Review Process: The organization's Form 990 is disseminated to all voting Directors via the online filing program TAX990 with an additional copy sent as a backup. The form is reviewed by the Director responsible for each specific program as well as by the CFO and CEO. For the 2023 Form 990 reviews took place from March through May culminating in the electronic filing of the return. In order to comply with the California Department of Justice DOJ requirements for annual returns the decision was made to file the full Form 990 despite the option of a shorter form. The CFO and CEO carefully examine bank statements including all downloaded transactions and those from the PayPal account to ensure the accurate recording of donations and receipts. Additionally the CFO and CEO hold meetings with the Directors to review the past year's programs and discuss plans for the coming year. All communications and decisions from these reviews are documented in the organization's annual board meeting minutes. Furthermore an Excel spreadsheet detailing all transactions along with supporting documentation for donations and receipts is included alongside the board minutes and the organization's filings with the IRS California State and California DOJ. The organization operates entirely through volunteer efforts with no paid employees or contractors. Our goal is to continue serving the community effectively and transparently. Part VI, Line 12c All transactions whether collections of donations or expenses generated to support programs are scrutinized by the Directors to see if there is any conflict of interest and if there is the Board of Directors votes not to proceed. Part VI, Line 15 All current board positions and officer positions are unpaid volunteers as has been the practice since 2015.
