Fees are collected to offset operating expenses and maintenance to continue the availability of the building for future activities. The year resulted in the use of meeting rooms for eight meetings, six parties, seven auditorium events, one sales event, and one children's event in the adjacent parking lot. Two offices are in long-term leases. Other small expenditures include painting and plaster, gutters, and the start of renovating the north entrance and auditorium ($7,440.57). These state grants are for refurbishment of the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building. The Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Building Project joins with the city and agrees to fund the match requirement. The Project match grant is paid to the City who then pays the vendor. Depending on the requirements of the state grant, procurement rules of the City are used and Project board members are involved in the procurement process. The use of Project grant funds is monitored through participation in the work to be funded and review of vendor invoices by the project. Form 990, Part III, Line 2 Program Services of building renovation listed last year have been completed. New renovation programs have been undertaken in 2023. New programs are kitchen planning and construction and installation of security equipment including controlled access to exterior doors and camera surveillance inside and outside of the building. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 11b Each Board member of the Nebraska City Veterans Memorial Buiilding Propject has received a copy of the Form 990 for 2023 and all supplemental schedules via electronic mailing prior to filing. A discussion of the filing was held at the April 13, 2024 Board meeting and all questions were received and answered. Form 990, Part VI, Section B, Line 12c Each Board member completes a Conflict of Interest disclosure at the beginning of each calendar year and responses are reviewed and addressed with the Board Member if needed. Issues would be discussed by the Board and actions taken if violation of the policy is determined. Board members and volunteers who hear of violations or have concerns are to report those issues to the Board or a Board member.
