For these individuals, St. Joseph Home truly is home. It is the only agency of its kind in Hamilton County. As a subset of the ICF, in 2014, SJH began providing Ventilator Services at the request of the Ohio Dept. of Developmental Disabilities. Currently, 12 of the 48 people served in the ICF are ventilator dependent and 3 of 6 group living units2 for children and 1 for adults, referred to as cottages, are staffed and equipped to serve people on ventilators. The 2 for children comprise 1 of only 5 in Ohio outside of a hospital. Residents enjoy a quality of life that includes: swimming in the on-site therapy pool, summer camp, live music and concerts, family and holiday events, art activities, as well as the support needed for residents to actively participate in the broader community through outings based on their interests. They each provide support to 4 individuals who do not have the intense medical needs of those living in our ICF, but still need full time support in fully adapted buildings. The bank accounts are in SJH's name and therefore are listed on the statement of Financial position as a bank account asset, and "funds held in Trust for others" liability. Income and expense are not included in SJH activity. Part V, Line 4: The primary objective of the Endowment Fund is to provide financial stability for St Joseph Home. Investment and spending decisions are made to preserve and grow principal and produce annual income. In addition, the endowment fund shall be available to supplement the operating budget and to underwrite capital needs, as needed. Periodic distribution of funds for program/service initiatives may be applicable with Board approval. Part X, Line 2: In October 2022, the Home was granted individual tax-exempt status, entitling it to exemption from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3). Prior to October 2022, the Home was included in the group ruling issued to the United States Conference of Catholic Bishops, entitling it to exception from federal income tax under Internal Revenue Code Section 501(c)(3).
