The goal is to provide a view towards and knowledge of improved marksmanship and the safe handling and proper care of firearms. The mission should be recognized further as a development of characteristics namely; honesty, good fellowship, self-discipline, team play, and self-reliance, which are essential of good sportsmanship and the foundation of true patriotism. There are ten light gun competitions held annually to promote the benchrest club's primary exempt purpose for shooters with guns 17 pounds or less. There are ten heavy gun competitions held annually to promote the benchrest club's primary exempt purpose for shooters with guns of any weight.
