The findings became the basis of a shared policy agenda for essential workers that includes: investment into pathways for good paying, high-quality jobs, access to sick leave, health and unemployment benefits, and investment into resources for outreach and education, as well as investigation and upholding of workers rights. We served as policy co-chairs of the California Coalition of Worker Power, with an agenda this year of fighting retaliation and supporting workers who organize.Housing our Workers: Through our Housing our Workers campaign, we convene and connect workers organizations and housing justice groups to advance a shared agenda. In 2021, we successfully pushed the city of San Francisco to release a powerful Jobs/Housing Fit report that definitively shows a severe shortage of housing for low and middle income workers.We advocated for $64 million to fund affordable housing and acquire buildings where tenants are at risk of eviction. We also helped win $32 million in the budget for local rent debt relief for tenants struggling with pandemic rent debt, which disproportionately impacts Black and Brown communities. We organized in support of tenant Right-to-Organize legislation, to give new rights and protections to tenants who form associations and shift the balance of power between tenants and landlords. Climate Jobs: We released the California Climate Jobs Plan report, endorsed by more than 20 unions, that shows that a just transition can create a million new jobs in the state of California. We co-founded a new statewide coalition called California Labor for Climate Jobs (CLCJ) and began to organize around this opportunity to advance racial and economic equity.
