Its public support is over 32%, well in excess of the 10% public support threshold. The Museum serves as an educational center to the surrounding communities, as well as to the entire State of New Jersey. The Museum also serves as a research center and library for New Jersey and American history for learners of all ages. The Museum is open to the public year round, and its programs are designed to attract a diverse group of patrons of all ages, from toddlers to adults. The Museum programming includes a variety of After School Adventure programs which include the history of Early American tradesmen and craftsmen among others, hands on projects for toddlers, and Boy and Girl Scout programming designed to meet badge requirements. Liberty Hall sees more than 10,000 school children a year from within a 10- to 20-mile radius. The Museum offers over 100 in-person and virtual educational programs from kindergarten to college age. The educational programming covers an array of subjects from math to art, and reading and history to science. All educational programming, both in-person and virtual, meets New Jersey Core Curriculum Standards. The Museum also serves as a performing arts venue for Kean University and local community-based theater groups and hosts several adult educational events through its Uncork History, Professors and Pints, and Third Thursday Virtual Lecture Series. Thus, the Museum serves the community in a myriad of ways and offers a robust membership component. The Museum's Board of Trustees consists of a wide range of professionals, educators, and philanthropic leaders. Dr. Lamont Repollet, President of Kean University, is a prominent educator, former New Jersey Commissioner of Education, and the first Black person to serve in either of those capacities. Robert Raynolds, Ph.D., has been for over twenty years a research associate at the Denver Museum of Nature and Science, bringing to the Museum substantial expertise in education and research. John Kean is the patriarch of the Kean family, the original owners of Liberty Hall, who has provided many unique historical documents and artifacts used by the Museum in its programming. John Kean, Jr. is a community leader actively involved in support programs for New Jersey children of all ages. He founded and was a spokesperson for "School Counts", a New Jersey statewide business alliance focused on encouraging teenagers to stay in school and providing financial support for their higher education. Mr. Kean, Jr. also founded the Ducatus Foundation to teach elementary school age children about core values and good nutrition through participation in specially designed social sport programs currently conducted in the public schools in Elizabeth, New Jersey, and supported by a joint venture between Ducatus Foundation and Real Madrid.
